Construction

As you can see from the photos, I tried to keep the main body of the figure as standard as possible, whilst embellishing heavily. The pose was the first part, and I liked the idea of having my medic pausing on the battlefield and looking around for someone who needs help, or failing that someone to attack. The overhead shot best shows the pose, with the chainsword and stretcher parallel and the head looking across the end of the stretcher. Quite happy with that.

The green stuff work was quite simple. The hat is the strongest feature of the character I think, and I'm going to use this style hat on all the models in my army. Sculpting was simple, though next time I think I'll let the main part dry before attaching the peak ;).

The cross is a bit chunkier than I would have liked, but I rushed it a bit. Simply rolled out on a bit of plasticard, cut to shape then placed. The Kiv logo on the other shoulder of the painted model is actually sculpted too. I had two goes at freehanding the army icon, and gave up in anger. So I decided to sculpt it on. Again a little thick. For the rest of the army I'm going to do one really good one, then cast it up a few hundred times!

The backpack I'm quite happy with. It's the metal accessories from a space marine attack bike. I thought the big box part would represent a medi-kit nicely, and the bed roll underneath accompanies the stretcher nicely.

Then there's just a few little details; the helmet on one end of the bedroll, the lasgun from the tank accessories sprue attached to the top of the backpack, and some space marine pouches strapped to his waist.

As I say, lots of little conversions, but I think they pull together quite nicely. I certainly enjoyed making him, and am now turning my attentions to another member of the command squad!
