Based using Luke’s base ready mix to fit in with the Eagle Warriors, whom this’ll be supporting.

Really proud of this guy, I always liked the build but to finally have it complete is a great feeling! Now just to finish painting my Stompa and I’ll have both of my custom big guys done.

He's not done yet, but he's getting there. The head is now detailed, though needs a bit more. The battle cannon needs some more detailing, it'll get a large shield too. The close combat arm is done, though the shoulder pad will get the same decorations as the left one.

The back needs more work, the lego parts need covering up, the engine cover will be detailed then I just have the problem of the thighs to sort. But it's definitely moved forward a lot. Oh and for scale it uses the Valkyrie base, and fits rather conveniently actually.

However building that torso was bloody hard! The weird shape of the bionicle combined with the sketch I made meant I had some interesting pieces to cut. Still the basic form is now erm, formed.

The profile shot shows a lot of work still needed. He'll get a hood like affair around the head to help bulk that forward, coming in line with the shoulder pads (which I have no way of attaching yet, so they're not in shot). Also going to bulk out the back with gubbinz to make it a little more weighty back there.

However coming along ok. The new head isn't bad, it was actually a prototype but the shape was such a swine to do I may stick with it! Hah, that's the bodger's spirit.

Started on the greaves. They both have their edging, and the right one has most of its rivets and the eagle decoration. Quite happy with this one.

The left greave has some rivets, then I ran out (and my punch is blunt..noooo, ebay will hopefully provide in the next couple of days). I'm going to do some stripes on the left side of the centre panel, then on the right side I'm thinking half a shield in a forward position, kind of like a jousting knight. It'll make sense if it works.

Oh and I think I'm going to scratch build a head. I'm thinking of my own take on a bretonnian knight helmet I got ages ago (and used on an Emperor's Champ), but much bigger. I think it'll work, but we shall see.

Not started the detailing yet, just blocked out the main pieces. The photos aren't great I'm afraid, think I'll invest in some bits and build a decent lighting rig.

Struggling to find the pose I want to use for the finished knight. With it being bionicle it's all articulated, but I think I'll pin the finished model in position and base it. I want it to be dynamic without being cheesy. The idea of stepping on or over something appeals, but everything such as destroyed tank or rock seems incredibly corny. Will have to think some more..

I've started mine then. The basic greaves are done, though need a second layer with edging detail before I can start riveting and the like.

I've also started on the chest armour. Lots to do here, it will wrap around the back and be bulked up across the shoulders and neck massively. I'm not aiming for an epic Paladin, more my interpretation there of.

Also included the shoulder pad and the head I'm thinking about using. It's from a robogear spider, but I think will work ok once I've plated the canopy in armour.

The gun is coming along, needs lots of detailing and I'm thinking about shaping the end of the inner barrel (more like the blue knight in my inspiration photos). About to start looking at the chainsword now, see what I can come up with.

About a year ago I picked up a bionicle kit, erm.. Tao Hordika Matau for those to whom it means something (not me, I must confess). I actually bought it with a view to using the parts to do a matrix apu following the instructions from WIP. But the long it sat on my window ledge in various poses, the more inspired I got to make a mech.

So here we go, and clearly the hardest part is always going to be stopping it looking like a bionicle with loads of plasticard attached. Wish me luck!
