Stompa is now almost completely detailed, and just desperately needs painting. At one point I started a replacement for the choppa arm to be more ‘traditional’, but I think screw it, I like the whacky ‘Who Frame Roger Rabit?’ inspired one!

The tracks are a 1/35th panzer addon pack, which rather helpfully came with drive wheels so I've used them. The road wheels are from an old leopard I had kicking around.

Tons to do, but I got distracted by other projects around this point..

Since the last photo I've added a simple turret with twin linked big shoota and a hefty metal plate on the bonnet at the front. And some random plating around the sides.

Particularly happy with the front, this was inspired by one of KrOOzA's many contraptions. The big ramming spikes are plasterboard rawlplug type things that you twist in then screw into. I've got dozens of the things kicking around. Bloody sharp though, keep catching myself..

So yeah, I'll get another photo at some point, but at the moment I'm stuck trying to figure out how to beef up my new battlewagon so it's bigger than this thing!

The second trakk is done except for the rivets. I used the grot tower from the battlwagon, the same tracks as on the first ont, then a few other odds and sods. Nothing hugely innovative, but the small turret just works so well I was very chuffed. It's built as I originally envisaged it, with the tracks "backwards". Might look counter intuitive, but I really like the haphazard feel it gives, and I didn't want the unit to become too uniform. That'd be kind of everything I'm NOT going for, if you get me.

The third trakk is in progress and needs a bit more coaxing along. I've used the other turret from the battlewagon. It's set slightly further forward than I intended, but the razorback hatch was too good a fit for the tracks to ignore. So currently drying is a rather meaty dozer blade, which when set off the front should pull the balance back to the front. Got to sort out the weapons, which are just balanced for the photo, then a top hatch and a few rivets and huzzah.

Starting the bed, going to go for a simple look inspired by the rather awesome monster trukk over at Irondog Studios. Also going to try out his method of painting, seems to make a lot more sense.

The AoBR warboss is pretty damned shiney, and I like it a lot. However he's far too growly and animal like for my rather happier comic grots. The first step therefore was to ditch the head. I love the big iron gobbed nob, so I bagged his. Does mean that nob will have a slightly oversized shouty head, but we'll deal with that later.

Wasn't a big fan of the scarecrow look of the warbosses left arm, so I chopped that and dropped it down with a bit of greenstuff to smooth it over. Then I removed the big shoota and tried to carve into the arm to get the shape of the hand back. Reasonably successful.

Then I started adding stuff!

The right hand just has something from the top of a marine tank (possibly part of the hk missile?) strapped on to be the kff controller. The right shoulder pad is of course just a shin guard from a dreadnought, the left shoulder has a ravenwing searchlight (as Murray always says, "ow you gonna nick stuff if you can't find it?").

Around the back we have the KFF itself. This is made from the guns from an AT43 kolossus, with the shocks from some wheeled 1/35th military model. Couple of wheel nuts cap the coils, and gas tanks I think from a sentinel. Also a tow hook, so Murray can drag the really heavy loot home.

One of my favourite parts is the toolkit hidden underneath. Murray's quite proud of that, having nicked it from a fully functional baneblade last week. (he's going back for the battlecannon tomorrow).

All that's left to do is the guitar wire to link the kff controller to the backpack and some rivets on the boots and I think we're done.

As I say, very happy with the feel of this, weighty and has real presence, but still retains the character I'm going for in my grots. Just need to make up his two ladz mobs ("da a team" and "da uvver a team").
