Complete!

The squadron of trakks is now complete, all built and painted. Really happy with the way these turned out, even if my painting is a little rustic in places. Guess it kinda works with the Orks style anyway.

Back underway

That was a bit of a break. But I recently bought the new ork battlewagon and had to use some parts for these.

The second trakk is done except for the rivets. I used the grot tower from the battlwagon, the same tracks as on the first ont, then a few other odds and sods. Nothing hugely innovative, but the small turret just works so well I was very chuffed. It's built as I originally envisaged it, with the tracks "backwards". Might look counter intuitive, but I really like the haphazard feel it gives, and I didn't want the unit to become too uniform. That'd be kind of everything I'm NOT going for, if you get me.

The third trakk is in progress and needs a bit more coaxing along. I've used the other turret from the battlewagon. It's set slightly further forward than I intended, but the razorback hatch was too good a fit for the tracks to ignore. So currently drying is a rather meaty dozer blade, which when set off the front should pull the balance back to the front. Got to sort out the weapons, which are just balanced for the photo, then a top hatch and a few rivets and huzzah.

Project Overview

I’ve had this one on the table for months, but in my head for much longer. I wanted to do some small tanks for my army having seen many grot tanks around the web. I started knocking one together when I got hold of a robogear kit with some nifty tracks.

I held off until the new codex was released though to make sure it would fit nicely in my new army. It does, so progress began.

First one done

The first one is almost done then. It has a turret and skorcha at last, it has many rivets, it even has a magnetised turret (not for switching, just for a cheap rotation device).

Really happy with the way it turned out. I actually wanted the tracks the other way up, but on closer inspection they didn't really work, since the road wheels wouldn't be touching the road. Hardly ideal. So I designed it around the shape of the tracks, aiming slightly for a panzer style. It ended up a little thinner than I expected, but I think that works really well. Sort of like the grot mek was trying to make it as tall as possible.

Nothing too fancy detail wise, but I wanted to get this one done so I could start the second. Just needs a couple of exhaust pipes on the flat plate on the back and I think it's done.
