Right, have photos now. They show the plating has begun on the model kit. Quite happy with how the shape is evolving, it's slowly looking more like a speedsta. Lots of armour plating to add after the shape is found of course.

Decided to do the bubble chukka, thought it'd be a nice unique model (well I can't find any to nick ideas from anyway). Spent a long time trying to come up with suitable weapons. Went for those shown, which is a ping pong ball, four round bases, several pieces of pipe and the spikey bits from the engines of Anakin's pod racer! They should look the part once I've detailed them and got them mounted (the next problem).

Project Overview

Following on from my gobsmasha I wanted to jump right into my next project. This one is going to be another Epic Ork vehicle. I’m working on a Mekboy Speedsta, though which variant I’m not quite sure. They were, of course, rokkit speedstas, lifta droppa speedstas and bubble chukka speedstas.

The plan is to slot it into the new Grot Kult of Speed army list as a guntrukk, so the bubble chukka might work quite nicely as a zzap guntrukk. Equally I could do a rokkit speedsta as a lobba guntrukk. The problem is I’d really like to do the liftadroppa. We’ll see how inspired I feel.

A beginning

No pictures yet, but we're up and running. I bought a Zvezda 1/35th BA-3 armoured car for the base. Just looked a perfect shape and I think it'll work well. It's a little smaller than I originally planned, but the gobsmasha is so big I think scale creep would have been a problem. This will work well as a trukk for my grots, which is the point.

Got the main chassis glued together and the first plasticard plates are attached. I've run out of superglue, which is slowing the progress. I don't like sticking plasticard with polystyrene cement, takes ages and the bonds never seem to be perfect. Maybe it's just me.
