Stompa is now almost completely detailed, and just desperately needs painting. At one point I started a replacement for the choppa arm to be more ‘traditional’, but I think screw it, I like the whacky ‘Who Frame Roger Rabit?’ inspired one!

What else? Well I've assembled the back, though still lots of holes to patch. Gone for the usual reactor disguised as a coal boiler that most old school orky vehicles had. First real rivet attack on that, though lots more to add.

I wasn't sure about the right shoulder, since it's quite a lot bulkier than the left, but I think it works. It looks kind of like a huge support for a huge gun, sort of lumbering counterbalanced beastie. Ish. Either way I think it'll work.

Also stuck a landing pad behind the left shoulder. Someone (er Lt. Walke I think) on WIP suggested it as an add on for someone's gun trukk, but I thought it'd rock hanging up there. Looks a bit weird at the moment, but once it's been detailed, and has the deathkopta I'm working on sat on it, then I think it'll look the business.

So yeah, progress. Woo.

The goggles sculpted onto the goblin pilot came out far better than expected too. And love his maniacal grin. Seems very fitting!

I think I'm going to add a couple of skorchas into the currently open spaces in the supports. Might look nice. Was tempted to have a go at motorising it, but didn't have enough bits I needed. Maybe next time.

Also detailied the body, or started anyway. Grid work around the "belt" and lots of patched pieces on the torso. No rivets yet of course. Started work on the commanda for the left shoulder pad too.

Working on the grotbomb launcher too, that's going on the right shoulder. Supposed to look all rickety and bodged together. I think I managed.

The right arm is then going to be a big biiig shoota, not started that yet.

Like the head detailing? Lots of extra bits to last pics, the skorcha and the pipe providing the fuel I quite like. Jerry built ladder on t'other side. Oh and what about the ogre gut plate for the centre of the monacle? Hehe, I love that bit. I'm going to paint the middle bit with a shine like it's glass.

Started detailing the face. It sort of came together once I found a space marine predator hatch (I think) in a bits box. Just screamed "monacle" at me. The other eye is a mantle (mantlet? the thingy that goes on the non-business end of a tank barrel) from a 1/48th tank kit. Then as suggested by someone on WIP, I'm going to have a burna hanging out of the eye socket. Not sure how effective it'll be at that range, but I think it'll look cool.

Started work on the neck too. Actually had two goes at it so far,  but it's proving to be a pain to get the head to fit right. Should be ok now, once it's panelled up.

Weapons are moving along slowly, the cutting blade is half way there, then I'll just need to jerry-rig some sort of support fixture. Also getting distracted with my entry for the trooper competition at wip.

Been working on the head and the left arm so far. The head is coming along best, hence that's the photos I've got. I've gone for a sort of knight type look to is, but intend to deface the image with suitable orkish features. Kind of an echo of the oomie walkers, if you get me. Not much detail on it yet, just the top hatch, which was acquired from my old baneblade. It's an old rhino hatch with a steering wheel from some old model. I think it works nicely. I've put it off centre to stop him looking like he had one of those weird american properllor hat things on. Oh and see the rivets? That's my new leather punch doing that, that is. Woo.

The left arm is coming along, but much slower since I'm doing a cutting blade and currently cutting out about 56 notches per blade. Drains my energy something chronic, so mind numbing. Nearly there though. It'll either rock in a serious way, or look a bit odd. I'm hoping for rock.

Superglued my fingers to the head more times than anything in the past six months. No idea why, it just seems destined to be attached to me. Grr.

I think the pieces that are there at the moment are likely to serve as an underskin, and I'll go over the top with extra panels for that "jus rivited" look. Once the panels are finished off under the shoulder mounts, all that's left is to give it a neck then the main structure is done.

That will just leave the head, weapon arms, and the back details.

Quite happy with how the interior looks, even though I've got no intention of leaving it exposed or detailing it. Perhaps if I do another one I'll spend a lot longer making the interior full of grots. But at the moment it almost looks like a big jerry-rigged structure that you could crawl around in to fix things. Heh.

Planned out two of the weapons, but I'm going to do 4 I think and make them interchangeable. Not for any game type reason, but simply because I've got too many ideas to fit into two weapons alone.

Good news is it can still support its own weight just on the wire, without even glueing it to the base. Should mean it will be very stable when it's finished off.

Started detailing the left foot too, since I don't want to fasten them in place until they're detailed, and I can't attach the second level of the body until the legs are pinned and glued.

Also cut out a large base. Going to use wire to strengthen the glue join, in the photos it's standing just on the wire and supports fine.

Finally I've also started work on the grot bombs for the repeater. I was going to buy the forgeworld ones, but at 7.50 each I thought I'd at least try and make my own first to see how it works out. If you can guess what the nose cone is you can have a cookie! Took me about twenty minutes just wandering around the local store to find that. If it works out I'll do a little tute. Otherwise I'll go to forgeworld!

The superstructure can be seen in the images, it's all free moving at the moment but once I've decided on the pose I think I'll drill through the joints and pin them in place. Should aid the strength. Most of the detail is just superglued on for speed (and plastic glue and very thing plasticard = mess gloop), but the supestructure is being glued up propa too.

Anyway the intention is like most things, the grots are trying to emulate the orks. So this is going to be their great gargant, only stompa sized cos they’re quite small. Got some ideas for weaponry which i think will either rock completely or fall on their arse. Either way this project should make a nice diversion from the strict rigid lines of IG armoury.
