I started this probably at the end of last year, but only recently took it up again. It’s a very simple conversion from the original chimeras, using a predator turret and a set of wheels from Tablescape (50p a pop, a bargain in my view). I’m quite happy with the result, looks suitably fieldworthy if that makes sense.

I've started a command variant of the Chard pattern chimera, this one with six wheels instead of tracks. Actually started a half track version but that'll end up as something else.

Anyway lots to do, but the wheels from tablescape seem to work really well. Expect updates.

Dull grey, then I've added a streaky wash to try and make the things look a bit used. Finally grey drybrush. I've actually just bought a larger drybrush, my small one doesn't do well on large areas.

I like the light blue edging, looks more like it does in the comparison pic when you see it in real life, it's enchanted blue not ultramarine like it appears. The front plate is done with a tamiya metallic, I really like them. Shines so brightly when it catches the light.

Metal work has all been drybrushed with tinbitz, needs another going over with a grey metallic of some sort. Then just lots of detailing to add.

I'm quite happy with the pintle mounts, twinlinked heavy bolter and heavy flamer. I thought about a turret as I mentioned, but I think this works. I was going for an m113 vietnam era style feel for them.

Also really pleased with my replacement hatch. That's the trouble with bitz buys on ebay, there's always a vital bit missing. So I had to scratch one half of the turret hatch for one of the models, but when painted should look fine.

I'm now contemplating a wheeled version to serve as the command squad's ride.

This is based on the british FV432 apc, which looks not unsimilar to the ubiquitous M113 with a few minor aesthetic differences.

The structure is all plasticard, nothing particularly complicated. The road wheels are from a 1/48th kit, and the idlers are lego wheel hubs.

My original plan was to mount the turret weapons on the pintle. I'm not a huge fan of this, but the twin linked bolters from the ravenwing kits are small enough for it to work in my view. However I was just dismantling my baneblade for painting and the heavy bolter turret on that does look rather good on these, so we shall have to see.

Plenty to do, but I'm really happy I've been able to develop two in tandem. They're near as damnit at the same point, which is unique for me. I usually do one as proof of concept, then get bored and move onto something else.

The best bit of it being so simple is I'm inspired to now have a go at a hellhound on the same chasis. Unfortunately I'm out of tracks and road wheels, so until I find a new stash that's on hold.
