We ran out of time (learning the rules and the powers takes up a lot of the time it turns out), but we’ll continue it to resolution tomorrow I reckon. So far Gamora got swamped by Angel, Beast and X-23, then Cyclops was bumped off by Vanguard, in part thanks to Ezio’s smoke grenade. X-Men have all taken a bit of a beating, but I reckon I can still take it.

So far so good. Lots of tactics involved in it. We play a lot of games, bits of this feel almost Descent like, but with added, erm, fun. We also play a lot of X-Wing and there’s a certain element of the manoeuvring tactics in this as well. Interesting stuff!

Don’t have another Robin for comparison and the Batman has had a wash by someone I think, but here’s the comparison pic.

As you can probably tell, Batman had some issues with his face (as in he didn’t have one, not sure if it was a bad sculpt or the acetone took it off). I did my best to recreate it but it’s tricky. Robin I think is my best painted of the four so far.

Batman and Robin are both nearly complete, and I’m well on the way with Manbat. Not sure who’s next for the treatment, we’ll see.

In other news I’ve been watching a lot of HeroClix YouTube vids (big shout out to The Alpha Strike, I really like their stuff and they make it very easy to understand). Played a couple of solo games, just trying to get to grips with the rules. I’m loving the layers added by the power interactions, something you don’t get in a lot of games like 40k (granted I haven’t played for years). Feels more like MTG in that respect.

Oh and in case anyone is interested, the little scene is the free Pin-Up Garage diorama from HW Custom. Very handy, and I’ll use it for showing all my HeroClix repaints I think.

However I have been finding small projects to keep me busy, but I’ve been crap at keeping the website up to date. So let’s change that!

A couple of weeks ago a colleague said “what do you know about heroclix?”. I replied “nothing, is that like heroscape?”. A lot of googling and some ebaying later and today we played our first game. We used a very old starter set (DC HyperTime), using the new rules and some downloaded cards for each of the characters. But it seemed pretty good game play wise, I’m sure we’ll get more from it when we have up to date characters and an understanding of the rule set (both of which are happening).

In the meantime I wanted to try stripping the models. I had a go using my wife’s nail varnish remover, which gave me some success on Bane. Today my pure acetone arrived and wow, big difference, just stripped the paint right off the Joker, Manbat, Batman and Robin. So they’re next for paint.

Bane is now painted and washed ready for some layering, I’m sure he’ll look fine when done but I’m much more looking forward to painting up the cleaner four.

Interesting to see where this goes, a small project really considering I’m not doing scenery or anything, just a few models. We’ll see how long that lasts!
