Since I can’t help myself but build something, even for a board game that has all the pieces, I decided to scratch build a death roller. It’s a combination of plasticard, Mantic Forgefather bits and some rubber wheels from an old toy car.

And the last sight many a goblin will see… (or more likely many an orc will see right before knocking this guy out, stupid dice rolls).

I know people have mixed feelings about the Mantic stuff, but I love the sculpts, especially the expression of smug satisfaction on this guy’s face. Not sure if that’s because he has a big death roller to play with, or because he has a mug of ale to drink during the game and none of his dwarf bretheren do..

Blood Bowl Returns

I was a huge fan of blood bowl back in the, erm, early 90’s I guess, geez now I feel old. But it was pretty much the first GW game I played, my friend and I ‘borrowed’ his older brother’s set for illicit and hurried games. Seem to remember getting trounced a lot but that’s half the fun.

So I bought the new version that came out at the end of last year and got to play my first game on Thursday. I lost of course, but that never really bothered me (especially when you’re introducing a new player to a system, I find it always sticks better with them if they feel like they can win). As you can see the models are all primed, I spent a while altering the poses so there are only a couple of duplicates on the orc team and none on the human side. I’ll get photos up once I have them painted.

Also, since it was my birthday last week, my mother-in-law kindly bought me a couple of add ons for the game, so I also have Deathzone and a new dwarf team to get assembling. Thanks Sharon
